GW2 has gear progression, just like any RPG, but just to a certain point. WoW for example is a gear treadmill that resets every 8 months (if not year) once the next tier gets released, with "catch up" free gear being thrown around to reward those that didn't want to endure the treadmill. You are mistaking gear progression for gear treadmill. ( And I am a WoW player since 2005, and I played many mmorpgs ( DAOC, Warhammer, Aion, Swtor, SWG, Rift, Tera, etc etc.)) Again, you can't tell me the same for FF14 or WoW. Lost Ark on the other hand is probably a game that I will play alot on.Īnd you know the beautfy of Guild Wars 2? You can play other games without feeling left behind.
Weirdly enough everyone is drooling over New World, which if you compare with any other mmorpg, has no real content. I didn't play it for years, so it is still just a first impression, But I know that I got tired of WoW making me ''force'' to do things I don't enjoy. Since I am a pure pvper, that also can enjoy a bit of pve, this game fulfils my needs. The pvp is such an afterthought, such a mess. But that is my opinion.įF14 is maybe THE GAME that i can't get into, It has no tangible pvp. I mean, I can tell you about World Vs World or Spvp, something that FF doesn't have.įor me, i don't need super duper rare items or rewards to make me move forward or appreciate a game. If they found that boring, I wonder what is fun for them ( maybe BDO? Maybe more of an Action MMORPG? ), but you know everyone has a different taste. You will need to elaborate on Boring or repetitive, because GW2 has genuinly one of the best COMBAT design. So you will tell me, that FOMO out of a cashshop ( optional, mind you, and only for cosmetics, a game needs to make money someway somehow), is the same as fomo out of a game from FF and / or WoW ? (Where you could miss a week of torgast, dailies, or anything?)
